Sekhukhune United co-coach Kaitano Tembo says his side need show more character after their recent bad run of form.
Babina Noko are now on a four-match winless run as they lost their third game in four and dropped to 15th place on the log when they were beaten 2-1 by Royal AM on Saturday.
Their winless run comes somewhat unexpected after they signed lot of quality players and beefing up their technical during the transfer window. but Tembo insisted they still need to gel together as a team
“We had a very good start and that is what has been happening in all our games,” Tembo said after the game.
“Good start, we create good opportunities, we can’t just put the ball in the back of the net and we’ve been scoring one but we have to win a game some time especially when you’re creating a lot of opportunities,” he said.
“It’s been very disappointing and also the goal that we conceded, we had the game under control and then we go in there we make a mistake they go and they scored.
“Same thing again in the second half, we couldn’t defend the throw-in on the edge of the box, no pressure on the ball, we are ball watching and they go on and they scored and now we’ve got to chase the game.
“Always tough when you have to be doing that because if I look at the way we’ve been playing we’ve been playing well but creating better opportunities, better opportunities than our opponents but not taking them.”
Despite being on a winless run, they scored in almost every game they’ve played this season and Tembo believes that’s what they need to work on.
“Probably it’s mental strength, that’s what we need to work on,” he added.
“We need to be a little bit stronger, we need to show a little bit of character because if I look at the team we’ve got experienced players. Very few young players, no young players in the team.
“It’s experienced players who should be managing games in certain phases but we are a new team, there are players who are coming from different clubs so we trying to be a team. I think with the work we have been putting behind the scenes we will soon start reaping the rewards.”
Babina Noko have only managed to win two of their last 23 league games and will be up against Cape Town City on Tuesday evening.
