Online users question Tebogo Mashego’s apology to DJ Maphorisa and DJ Karri

Music artist Tebogo Mashego, popularly known for his hit Biri Marung, has issued an apology to DJ Maphorisa and DJ Karri after accusing them of owing him millions.

Mashego recently made headlines when he claimed in a viral video that the Scorpion Kings owed him R23 million, sparking confusion and backlash online.

On Wednesday, 15 October 2025, a new clip of the artist surfaced on X, shared by user @TheAudioLab, showing him walking back his comments.

In the video, Mashego blames his outburst on his mental state, saying,

“Eh, guys, mental breakdown. I have a lot to say, but today I came to apologise. I swore at my big brothers. But, 2Woshort are byao (2 short said so). I apologise for swearing at DJ Maphorisa and DJ Karri. I’m only apologising for swearing, but everything else, 2Woshort are byao.”

His words quickly reignited conversation online, with many pointing out that his apology sounded more like a “sorry, but not sorry” moment.

One user reacted, “He is only apologising for swearing at them, the rest is true because 2Woshort are byao.”

Another wrote, “After all the speculations about witchcraft, snakes, drugs, having a calling, illuminati, sacrifice, bloodline, ancestors, initiation, etc., he tells y’all about a mental breakdown?”

Someone else added with humor, “New haircut, new shirt, no Sprite, the only thing left is to remove the nail polish.”
