Thabo “Tbo Touch” Molefe, an entrepreneur and renowned radio personality, is apparently returning to Metro FM after a surprise departure from the SABC radio station six years ago.
Tbo Touch, a veteran broadcaster, has returned to Metro FM and will begin broadcasting on April 1st. Following an alleged conflict with the SABC, Molefe quit from the broadcaster six years ago. The star will host the popular afternoon drive position on Metro FM, according to a source at the radio station.
Sphe “DJ Sphectacula” Ngwenya and Lebogang “DJ Naves” Naves, dubbed “Kings of the Weekend” by radio listeners, are currently in charge of the afternoon drive slot.
According to the article, with the departures of fan-favourite radio personalities such as Pearl Modiadie, Bad Boy T, and others, the station has noticed a drop in listeners.
“Metro FM’s seen a decline since the departure of some big names in the past few years, so they had to bring in a big fish to bring listeners back to the station.”
“Touch wanted the morning slot because he has other things going on during the day, but I think he got the [afternoon] one.”
Touch previously stated in an interview with Thabo T-bose Mokwele of Kaya FM that he quit Metro FM out of principle and that he was paid R200k per month when he departed. “I was getting about R200 000 a month when I left. It was a nice cheque.”
