Bafana Bafana winger Percy Tau has won his fourth trophy since joining Egyptian giants Al Ahly.
Tau, 28, started the game as Al Ahly beat Pyramids in the Egypt Super Cup, which was played in Abu Dhabi on Friday evening.
He faced a familiar face on the other end, with Bafana teammate Fagrie Lakay starting for Pyramids, who had replaced Egyptian Premier League winners Zamalek in the final after the White Nights refused to partake.
Al Ahly qualified as Egypt Cup winners and – just like last year – the Club of Century secured the trophy, this time with a 1-0 win in extra-time.
The game was dead-logged at 0-0 after 90 minutes, but Ali Maaloul scored the only goal of the night in the 96th minute from the penalty spot.
Tau featured for 105 minutes in the game, while Lakay was substituted after 82 minutes.
It was Tau’s fourth trophy with Al Ahly after the 2021 CAF Super Cup, the 2021/22 Egypt Super Cup and the 2022 Egypt Cup.
