Bafana Bafana winger Percy Tau has insisted he doesn’t feel under pressure to perform at Al Ahly, because he is own biggest critic.
Tau, 28, has been a regular pillar in Marcel Koller’s squad and came up with some top performances in the CAF Champions League, scoring two goals and setting up four more in his last five CAFCL appearances when his side needed him the most.
Tau also featured for 105 minutes as Al Ahly beat Pyramids in the Egypt Super Cup on Friday, lifting his fourth title since joining the Egyptian giants.
“I am not under pressure from the expectations of the fans, as I put greater pressure on myself and have high aspirations,” Tau said after the match, as per KingFut.
“We were able to win the Super Cup and we want to win more.
“Things are going well so far, and we are in the semi-finals of the CAF Champions League. We lost the final last season and do not want to repeat that.”
One constant of his time in Egypt have been the injuries but Tau insisted time on the treatment table is part of the game.
“There are things we cannot control, and they are part of football.”
Tau and Al Ahly next face Raja Club Athletic in the CAF Champions League semi-final, as they attempt to lift the club’s 11th title in the competition.
