Tanzania giants Simba SC have expressed shock at the conduct of their former striker Dejan Georgijevic.
The striker announced his decision to terminate his contract with the club via his Instagram page.
He cited breach of contract on the part of the club as the reason for his decision.
“I confirm that my employment contract is terminated with just cause due to the fundamental breaches of the contract by the club,” wrote the Serb.
“Thank you, fans, for the support and love you have given me.”
Simba’s spokesperson Ahmed Ally has spoken out about the issue.
He said the player complained about an issue in the contract and decided to leave the camp in Zanzibar ahead of Sunday’s CAF Champions League game against Angola’s De Agosto.
“Dejan Georgijevic has informed us that he is terminating the contract with Simba SC,” Ally said.
“As a club, we are unhappy with what he has done as a professional player. We did not expect to see him terminate the contract through social media without any consultation from his employer.
“Even if there are some issues in his contract, he had to sit down with his employer to discuss.”
He added that the club would decide on his actions. Georgijevic left Simba 53 days after signing the contract on August 7 2022.
He scored only one goal and one assist during his brief Tanzania stint after featuring in only two games.
Georgijevic played in the domestic league and the CAF Champions League, where they progressed at the expense of Malawi’s Big Bullets.
Simba are tied on 10 points with their bitter rivals after only four games played in the 2022/23 season.
They have won their three league fixtures and drew once. Simba are also in the second round of the Champions League and will look to progress further in the competition.
