South African artist Ayabonga Zuma, popularly known as Sykes, has come forward with shocking claims about his former record label.

The uMa weNgane hitmaker recently revealed in an interview that he had to pay a staggering R250,000 to secure his release from the label.

In a video shared by STRAATATUBE on YouTube, Sykes detailed how the label presented him with a spreadsheet listing supposed expenses that he was allegedly responsible for repaying.

“Before I could leave, they gave me a spreadsheet for R250,000 for groceries that I didn’t even eat, per year,” he said, visibly frustrated by the experience.

The singer explained that despite never receiving any payment from the label, he was still expected to settle the hefty amount.

“I had to pay for it myself, but I was never paid. But by God’s grace, I managed to give them the money and leave,” Sykes added.

Now operating as an independent artist, Sykes seems determined to move forward from the ordeal.
