Season 5 Big Brother Mzansi winner and actor Akhonamathemba Zwane, popularly known as Sweet Guluva, broke his silence surrounding his former partner, Ashley Ogle’s newborn.

Ashley, who was a contender on Big Brother Mzansi’s fifth season, recently shared snaps of her  baby on social media. This led to some internet users wondering if Sweet Guluva is the father. When asked about the father of her baby, Ashley said ‘jwang’ loosely translated to “how”. The speculations from their supporters prompted the former Black Gold actor to issue a statement sharing his side of the story.

In the statement, Sweet Guluva said he has not met the child and done a paternity test.

“Sweet Guluva has since the beginning of 2025 (been) privately requesting Ms Ogle, who claimed to have been impregnated by Sweet Guluva to allow him to meet the child, and for his family to visit Ms Ogle’s family to address the issue of damages in accordance with Zulu culture,” read the statement.

The statement revealed that Sweet Guluva has resorted to the law, with all his previous attempts to resolve this matter privately being documented and submitted to his legal representatives.

“Until Ms Ogle allows Sweet Guluva and his family to meet the child in person and be permitted to do paternity test, it would be irresponsible of Sweet Guluva at this stage to confirm or deny that he is the father of Ms Ogle’s child,” read the statement.

Responding to Sweet Guluva’s statement, Ashley denied that he and his family reached out to Ashley and her family with regards to her pregnancy.

“I would like to put it on record that no such attempt has been made to me and my family. I cannot deny access to someone that has made no attempt to be part of the pregnancy or the birth of my son,” said Ashley.

She also shared that the last communication she had with Sweet Guluva was after the birth of her son, where he wanted to know if his name has been registered on the child’s birth certificate. After she responded “No, I didn’t register you as you were not present.” Sweet Guluva wanted to meet in a public space, she said she declined because she was not comfortable because she just gave birth.

Ashley also mentioned that she has gone to hell and back during her pregnancy, and has endured public humiliation and bullying from his fans and some of his friends.
