Swallows FC head coach have confirmed they have secured the signing of left-back Pentjie Zulu to bolster their defensive options.
The Dube Birds have fielded winger Fawad Basadien in the left-back role over the last few weeks while the sudden exit of Thabo Matlaba proved a major blow as he joined Royal AM on deadline-day.
Zulu has been spotted at the club over the past few weeks but it was unclear whether he was invited to keep fit, having last played a top-flight game in December 2020.
However, Kerr has now confirmed the 31-year-old is registered and available for selection for the remainder of the season.
“We’ve signed Pentjie Zulu, I know Pentjie from Leopards a long time ago, I know the quality he can bring here,” he said before issuing a challenge to the player whom he worked with before.
“He’s been missing for most of the season since leaving Sekhukhune and now it’s his chance to get back, as long as he keeps his lifestyle off the field better… he’s got a great opportunity for the next two or three seasons.”
Zulu has racked up 94 appearances in the South African top-flight with Leopards, Bidvest Wits, Jomo Cosmos and Chippa United respectively.
