Mathimba Maluleke, a Hawks spokesperson in Limpopo, has confirmed that five suspects suspected of cash transit heists in the province will appear in the Thohoyandou Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
“Five suspects will be appearing this morning (Monday) before the Thohoyandou Magistrates Court,” said Maluleke.
Four of the suspects were arrested on Friday in Thohoyandou.
The arrests came after police swooped on a suspected safe house in Makhado, where they planned to arrest the gang believed to be behind a series of CIT heists in the province.
Eighteen suspects were shot and killed in the ensuing shootout between the gang and the police,
In Thohoyandou, 10 vehicles including several high-powered performance vehicles and seven automatic rifles, were also seized.
The fifth suspect was arrested during the ongoing investigations.
