SuperSport United CEO Stan Matthews has confirmed that star striker Bradley Grobler has renewed his contract with the club.

Grobler, who is SuperSport’s all-time goal scorer, his contract with the Tshwane giants was expiring at the end of the season along with that of Thami Gabuza.

Because of how much he has delivered to the club, when SuperSport held the awards on Monday night, Grobler took the top goal scorer, having netted 10 goals in 29 appearances in all competitions.

“Bradley, we have renewed his contract and everything has been finalised,” said Matthews during the club’s player awards on Monday

“You can quote me on that. I have signed, he has signed, so Bradley is in the bag for next season with an option for a further year.

“Bradley is still going to be around. It is about what we put next to Bradley or ahead of Bradley – we have to manage Bradley’s game-time and he’s aware of that.”

The 35-year-old entered himself in the history books this season, scoring his 100th goal when SuperSport beat Maritzburg United 2-0 in February this year.

He followed that up with another goal against TS Galaxy when they won 2-0 in April to leave himself with 101 goals.

Since Grobler joined SuperSport from Cape Town Spurs ahead of the 2012/13 season during coach Gavin Hunt’s first stint, in 11 seasons with the club, he has won two Nedbank Cups, one Telkom Knockout, two MTN8s.

He was part of the Tshwane side that lost the CAF Confederation Cup final to TP Mazembe in 2017 under Eric Tinkler.
