Sundowns to overtake Pirates on Good Friday?

Betway Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns host the Chilli Boys at Loftus Versfeld on Friday, 10 April 2026, with kick-off scheduled for 19:30.

Kabo Yellow come into this clash with real pressure in the title race, currently sitting second on the table with 50 points. just one behind Orlando Pirates, who lead on 51. However, Sundowns have a game in hand.

MAMELODI SUNDOWNS CHASING TOP SPOT IN TIGHT TITLE RACE

Out of their 21 matches played this season, Miguel Cardoso’s side have secured 15 wins and suffered only one defeat.

Sundowns’ form at home has been particularly formidable, they remain unbeaten at home ine Loftus in 10 matches, with eight wins and two draws.

With 50 points already on the board, they are averaging over two points per game, making them a real force in the race against Orlando Pirates for the title.

Coach Vusumuzi Vilakazi’s side are enduring a much tougher campaign in the bottom half of the table. Occupying 13th place, they have managed just four wins from 22 matches and have been held to 8 draws, while slipping to 10 losses.

Their struggle to pick up points away from home has been a major hurdle, with only one victory on the road all season. Currently sitting on 20 points, their recent form has been shaky, leaving them in a scrap to stay clear of the relegation battle as they prepare for a difficult trip to face the defending champions.
