Sundowns & Richards Bay Starting XIs Announced

Mamelodi Sundowns and Richards Bay have announced their starting line-ups for this afternoon’s DStv Premiership encounter at the Loftus Versfeld stadium.

Masandawana are 20 matches unbeaten in the league and already secured the league title with seven games to spare.

However, after dropping points in their last three league matches, Rulani Mokwena’s men will want to get back to winning ways in their push of reaching 74 points at the end of the season.

They didn’t have much time to prepare for this encounter as they only arrived Monday morning back on home soil from Algeria, where they defeated CR Belouizdad 4-1 in the first leg of their CAF Champions League quarter-final.

Downs will be out of their key man in the middle, Teboho Mokoena as he will be serving a suspension after receiving his fourth yellow in the Nedbank Cup quarter-final defeat against Stellenbosch FC. 

Meanwhile, the Natal Richboyz have gone 10 matches without a win after they started the season very well and were sitting in second place for a long time.

But their impressive form has gone through the window and have dropped out of the top eight into 10th spot.

Although their 32 points should be enough to not be dragged into the relegation battle, they sit just six points ahead of Chippa United in the promotion/relegation spot – at the same time they are just one point away from the top eight. 

These two sides know each other very well as they already played twice this season in the league and in the Nedbank Cup. Both ties saw Masandawana end up victorious, beating Bay 2-0 in the away fixture in the league and 3-2 in the Nedbank Cup round of 32.
