Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies completed a double over Vasco Da Gama, cruising to a 4-0 win at the UWC Stadium on Sunday.
There was only one fixture of the Hollywoodbets Super League this weekend as Banyana ba Style continued catching up on outstanding matches.
Goals from Oratile Mokwena, Miche Minnies, Boitumelo Rabale, and Rhoda Mulaudzi were enough for the red-hot Brazilians to seal maximum points.
Oratile Mokwena was named the Player of the Match following her stellar performances on the day.
The two teams had played on Wednesday with Jerry Tshabalala’s charges walking away victorious after two late goals from Rabale and Lelona Daweti.
Sundowns went into this game without six of their key players due to international commitments.
The six are Tiisetso Makhubela, Bambanani Mbane, Thalea Smidt, Melinda Kgadiete and Andile Dlamini, who was out due to family bereavement.
In the absence of some Sundowns’ star players, it gave other players to take the centre stage to showcase their God-given talent.
One player who made the most of the opportunity was the versatile defender Khutso Pila, who is one of the youngest players in the Tshwane-based outfit squad.
The 22-year-old defender had anticipated a tough battle before the weekend showdown, but it was a different story all along as the African Queens walked over their opponents.
WHAT PILA SAID BEFORE THE GAME
“It was a very tough fixture on Wednesday because of the low defensive block they deployed,” she told Sundowns’ media.
“The league has been very unpredictable, and we are not taking anyone for granted.
“We expect a very tough encounter, and we are fully prepared to give everything on the pitch.”
As things stand, the defending champions remain on the summit of the Super League table with 61 points with 20 wins from 23 outings, 13 points clear of second-placed arch-rivals TUT Ladies.
Sundowns have now scored a whopping 92 goals and have only conceded 11 goals in the process.
The side also possesses an enormous goal difference of +81 so far.
