Sundowns, JVW, Thunderbirds Continue Winning Runs

Mamelodi Sundowns, JVW and Thunderbirds Ladies all kept their winning momentum in week three of the Hollywoodbets Super League.

The defending champions were the biggest winners as they put five past Durban Ladies without reply in the match played in Kwa Zulu Natal.

The Pretoria based side remains top of the log with nine points from three games. Durban Ladies are 13th with no point from two encounters.

The Blue Diamonds are right behind Sundowns on the log also with a perfect record but with an inferior goal difference.

They defeated Golden Ladies 3-0 in their own background condemning the side from Mafikeng to the bottom of the table with no point from the same number of games.

Thunderbirds Ladies completed the top three of perfect records with a 2-0 victory over City Lads in the Eastern Cape derby in Gqeberha. The newcomers are third from the bottom, with no point in three outings.

Meanwhile, in the Limpopo derby, First Touch Academy defeated their local rivals MaIndies Ladies 2-1 in Lebowakgomo. This is MaIndies’ third loss on the trot and they are placed 12th on the standings pointless.

The Academy is sitting in eighth with six points, they are tied on points with Coal City Wizards and University Johannesburg (UJ) in sixth and seventh places respectively. Wizards won 2-0 against Richmond United who are now 10th with just three points while UJ lost 3-0 to Bloemfontein Celtic.

Siwelele are fourth on the log tied on seven points with the University of Western Cape (UWC) at number five.

UWC were 3-1 winner against Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) in the mother city. TUT occupy ninth position with three points from two games.

Rookies Vasco Da Gama registered their first victory in the big league with a 2-1 win over Tsunami Queens in the other match at the UWC stadium.

Karen Jansen and Jamie-Lee Witbooi were on target as they defeated the 15th placed Queens.
