Sundowns Forward Set To Leave?

Forward Lesedi Kapinga wants to leave Mamelodi Sundowns ahead of this coming season in search for more game-time, iDiski Times has learnt.

Kapinga has only featured little under Rulani Mokwena this past season, making just six appearances in all competitions with no goal returns.

His dire situation at Chloorkop has led to his representatives to look elsewhere for him to find regular game-time, but the move might be a loan deal as Kapinga still has a contract with Tshwane giants.

The 28-year-old still has a running contract with Sundowns until 2025 and runs two more seasons, having joined them on five-year deal at the beginning of 2020/21 from Black Leopards.

Sundowns, on the other hand, are closing on the signing of Stellenbosch FC winger Junior Mendieta, which would mean even less potential game-time for Kapinga.

The Tshwane giants are also understood to have also parted ways with Surprise Ralani and Haashim Domingo, as their deals effectively end this month.

Kapinga, born in Musina, has won three league titles, one Nedbank Cup and one MTN8 trophy in three seasons with Sundowns. But he has done little in contributing to that success, scoring five goals in 43 matches.

Though game-time has been hard to come, Kapinga has shown flashes of attacking brilliance in the side and he is a player that will not be short of options, with AmaZulu rumoured to be one of them.

A report by SABC Sport in January revealed that Kapinga already informed Sundowns management then that he wants to leave, as he became desperate due to his playing time having shrunk in front of him.
