Mamelodi Sundowns, who last won the continental trophy in 2016, are desperate to reclaim it after several near misses.
The Brazilians kick off their bid for a CAF Champions League title on Saturday with a second preliminary round, first-leg match against Mbabane Swallows at Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville.
While Sundowns fans may pay little attention to the early stages of the competition, head coach Manqoba Mngqithi is taking the Eswatini champions seriously.
“They have three dangerous elements: they are very good at set-pieces, strong in transition, and very quick,” Mngqithi told Sundowns’ media team.
“We’ve studied their strengths and identified areas where we can capitalise. It’s important to approach the game with respect and not underestimate our opponents.”
After receiving a first-preliminary-round bye, this will be Sundowns’ first taste of Champions League action this season.
The team welcomed back eight players from international duty, including seven Bafana Bafana stars who rejoined training on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Orlando Pirates are preparing to face Jwaneng Galaxy at Botswana National Stadium in Gaborone on Saturday.
The Buccaneers will be hoping to avoid a repeat of last year when Galaxy knocked them out of the Champions League at the same stage.
Pirates will look to improve on their last away performance, where they were held to a 0-0 draw by CS Disciples before winning 4-0 at home.
Key players like Thalente Mbatha and Relebohile Mofokeng will aim to bring their strong Bafana form back to their club.
