Mamelodi Sundowns Chairman Tlhopie Motsepe has confirmed he will not be as regular at matches after undertaking ‘additional responsibilities on top of his current role.

After assuming the role at the club upon the rise of his father to CAF President, he’s been heralded as one of the most promising leaders in South African football.

Under his guidance, they have maintained their dominance in the domestic scene as well as improved off the field, in terms of sponsorships and social media growth of late – a matter he hosted a gathering with fans and media to discuss at one point.

But he’s penned a letter to the club and supporters to confirm he will no longer be as present as his first few years in the role.

“I would like to inform you that I have undertaken additional responsibilities on top of my primary role as the Chairman of Mamelodi Sundowns Football Club, which will result in me not attending as many football matches as I did in the past,” read the letter from Motsepe.

“I will be pursuing personal, business and academic interests in Europe, as well as advancing the Motsepe family business ventures on the African continent.

“I am grateful to the supporters, players, coaches, technical team and staff of Mamelodi Sundowns for the excellent work that they are doing.

“On the 23rd of September, I will be attending the Mamelodi Sundowns AGM, as well as at the MTN 8 semifinal. I look forward to seeing you at both events and at other matches during the course of the season.”
