Sundowns – Al Merrikh Line-Ups Confirmed

Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Merrikh face off in the CAF Champions League at FNB Stadium, and this is how the teams line up.

Sundowns have already won Group A and booked their spot in the knockout stages but will be looking to end the group on a high and take momentum into the next stage.

The DStv champions confirmed in the week that Erwin Saavedra and Rivaldo Coetzee will be unavailable through injury, while Brian Onyango is suspended for the match, following his red card against Al Hilal in their last fixture.

Meanwhile one of the club’s January signings, Surprise Ralani, is excited to see the supporters at the FNB Stadium. This will be the first football match in South Africa to exceed 2000 fans, after the government changed restrictions to allow fifty percent capacity.

“It’s exciting to say the least because we really have been missing them, it’s really nice to finally have them [at the stadium],” Ralani said on the Sundowns website.

“Having the 12th man with you always makes a huge difference but at the end of the day it’s still 11 v 11. The 12th man is just a morale booster we can use though.”

“The last encounter ended in a goalless draw and we surely learned our lesson from that. If you don’t take your chances things like that will happen, so obviously it’s going to be a lot different this time around.”

This is how they line-up:

Mamelodi Sundowns XI:Pieterese, Lebusa, De Reuck, Kekana, Modiba, Jali, Maluleka, Domingo, Maema, Kapinga, Ralani

Subs: Goss, Mudau, Lakay, Mokoena, Maboe, Mvala, Erasmus, Sirino, Zwane

Al Merrikh XI: tbc
