North West businessman Suliman Carrim is expected to appear in the Musina Magistrates Court today, Friday 30th October in a case involving the alleged attempted smuggling of financed vehicles across the South African border.
Carrim is accused of helping two employees obtain fraudulent documents allegedly used in an attempt to take two vehicles out of the country through the Beitbridge Border Post in July.

The employees, Mike Phiri and Ibrahim Zakes, were reportedly preparing to finalise a plea agreement when Carrim was added to the charge sheet.
The State alleges the vehicles were still under finance when the pair attempted to cross the border using fraudulent paperwork. Carrim is accused of assisting them in obtaining the documents. These remain allegations to be tested through the legal process.
Carrim, 49, is expected to apply for bail in the Musina matter. He remains in custody despite being granted R100,000 bail in a separate case.
His legal challenges extend beyond the alleged vehicle-smuggling case. On Wednesday, he was granted bail in Pretoria in a matter relating to his failure to appear before the Madlanga Commission.

He has also been ordered to arrange a new date to continue giving evidence about multimillion-rand loans allegedly made to individuals described as criminals, as well as visits to the late Jothan Msibi, who has been described as an alleged cartel leader.
The latest court appearance places Carrim at the centre of multiple ongoing legal proceedings, spanning alleged cross-border vehicle smuggling and questions surrounding his interactions with people under scrutiny.
The Musina proceedings are expected to clarify the next steps in the case, including Carrim’s bail application. The allegations against him have not been established as proven facts.
