TS Galaxy Chairman Tim Sukazi has admitted he will look to buy a status in the Hollywoodbets Super League should his Ladies’ side fail to win promotion this season.
Following the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations success from Banyana Banyana, there’s been a real sense of optimism rising around the game in the country, while Marumo Gallants and Royal AM were the latest to confirm a women’s team as part of their club.
While Galaxy competed in the second-tier last season, they fell in the play-off final of the Mpumalanga Sasol League district. But Sukazi affirmed that should they face another disappointment, he will be looking to take alternative routes to get the talent in the region the best exposure and development possible.
“We want TS Galaxy to have a Ladies’ team in the Hollywood Bets Super League, no doubt about it, I think it has become a no-brainer,” Sukazi said.
“Coming from the recent success of women’s football in the country but as a club, we try to be as good visionaries as we can, we saw that coming a long time ago.
“We started becoming those trendsetters in recent times, so we formed a Ladies’ team. They fell in the playoffs last year in the Sasol League but they are doing well this season.
“We might be promoted, if they don’t, for sure, next season come hell or high water, we’ll have to apply other means of getting the status. We have so much talent here, in this province, I’m talking ladies now and they deserve their place on the highest pedestal.”
