Stellenbosch FC head coach Steve Barker has pointed out what will be the key for his side to get desired results against Kaizer Chiefs.

The two sides are set to face off in the DStv Premiership on Saturday, 01 April, in the Chiefs’ backyard FNB Stadium at 17:30.

Having had a good run recently in the league, Barker highlighted that they have to avoid getting carried away.

He says the key will be to remain humble on the day while negating the strengths of Arthur Zwane’s charges.

“I think it’s to just continue from an emotional point of view, being humble and not becoming complacent,” Barker told Stellenbosch media.

“With a run that we’re on, we’re always looking for areas to improve. We’re always looking to be a better team from a previous match.

“We know Chiefs themselves are on a good run. They have also been playing well, they’ve got good players all around the park, and good individual quality.

“So, it goes without saying that we have to our full potential. We have to do what we do well as a football team.

“We obviously have to negate the strength that they have as a team. But we do believe that if we can do that, we also have the capability of asking them questions.

“So, it’s gonna be one of those games where we have to play well both defensively and in attack. Take our chances when they’re presented to us and defend really well.”

Stellies have not tasted a defeat in their last seven matches in all competitions. In those, they won six and drew one.

Meanwhile, Amakhosi have won all their previous four games across all competitions.

The Soweto giants are fourth on the log standings after gathering 37 points in 23 games. On the other side, Stellenbosch are eighth with 30 points in the bag after 23 games played.
