On Friday, 17 June, Eskom announced Stage 2 load shedding would be in place until further notice after improvements in generation capacity.
Stage 2 load shedding
The power utility said Stage would start at 12:00 on Friday. Eskom’s generation capacity has improved over the past 24 hours.
“Eskom will provide an update as soon as any significant changes occur.”
Six Coal-Powered Electricity Stations Achieve 70% Energy Availability Factor
As previously reported, the power utility, on Thursday, said six of its 15 coal-powered electricity stations achieved an Energy Availability Factor (EAF) of 70% over the past week.
The six power stations are Camden, Duvha, Matla, Lethabo, Matimba and Medupi.
“While this is still early progress, it shows a positive trajectory from actions taken to recover Eskom generation plants.
“This is consistent with Eskom’s target to achieve 70% EAF by the 2025 financial year,” said Acting CEO Calib Cassim.
