South African rugby stars Siya Kolisi and Eben Etzebeth will walk Dricus du Plessis to the ring when he defends his UFC middleweight title against Israel Adesanya in Perth on Sunday.

Following their Brisbane win over Australia on Saturday, the Springboks are now in Perth for round two of the Rugby Championship.

And since the proudly South African Du Plessis is in the same city for his colossal fight, there will be another famous crossover episode for fans to look forward to.

The fighter was flag bearer when the Boks took on the All Blacks two years ago; and as a big rugby fan, Du Plessis even attended South Africa’s World Cup final win last year.

Most recently, he presented his title when the Boks played Ireland in their first test at Loftus last month.

So with destiny landing his beloved rugby team in the same city he’s in, Du Plessis was sure to set up what is now a highly anticipated entrance into the octagon.

“We’re busy with that, getting Eben and Siya to walk out with us. It looks like it’s basically going to be a done deal,” Du Plessis said on KFM.

“The Boks are playing, they are the pride of South Africa, and then I’m fighting, all on the same weekend. Talk about stars aligning.”

“Once I put that South African flag around my shoulders, there is nothing in the world that can stop me. He can knock me down, but he won’t knock me out and he won’t keep me down.”
