On a day of draws in the top tier of the Uefa Nations League, Spain were the only winners — as they defeated Serbia 3-0 at the Estadio Nuevo Arcángel in Cordoba.
Aymeric Laporte got the opener after just five minutes to give the hosts the lead heading into half-time.
After the break, captain Alvaro Morata and Villarreal winger Alex Baena added to the advantage as Spain dominated proceedings with 30 shots to Serbia’s three.
In the group’s other game, Denmark and Switzerland played out a 2-2 draw to leave Spain three points clear of the Danes at the top of the table.
In Group A1, Portugal were prevented from widening their gap at the summit as a resilient Scottish outfit got their first point of the campaign with the 0-0 draw at Hampden Park.
Croatia’s 3-3 draw away to Poland helped them cement second spot, at least for the time being, as Sebastian Szymański got the final equaliser off a Robert Lewandowski assist.
Those results mark the conclusion of the international fixtures, with the Premier League and La Liga among the action set to resume when club football takes centre stage again this weekend.
