Angélique Kidjo announces ‘Hope’ album

South Africa’s internationally acclaimed Soweto Gospel Choir is set to feature on Grammy-winning singer Angélique Kidjo’s upcoming album Hope, which drops on 24 April 2026.

The Beninese music icon confirmed the highly anticipated project on social media, revealing that the album has been five years in the making.

“🧡 5 years in the making 🧡 My new album HOPE!! is coming out on April 24th. I put my whole heart into this album and I’m so GRATEFUL to all the great artists who have contributed their genius to the album!” she wrote.

The album boasts an impressive and diverse lineup of global stars, including production legend Pharrell Williams, music pioneer Nile Rodgers, Nigerian Afrobeats heavyweight Davido, and rising star Ayra Starr.

Other featured artists include American rapper Quavo, Congolese star Fally Ipupa, Tanzanian hitmaker Diamond Platnumz, Brazilian singer Iza, and Nigerian highlife duo The Cavemen, among others.

For South African fans, the inclusion of the Soweto Gospel Choir stands out as a proud moment.

The globally celebrated choir, known for its powerful harmonies and multiple Grammy wins, continues to fly the country’s flag high on international stages.

Kidjo, a five-time Grammy winner herself, is known for blending African sounds with global influences, and Hope appears to continue that legacy through cross-continental collaboration.
