Soweto Derby Tickets Sold Out as Chiefs and Pirates Fans Miss Out

Supporters of Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates who were hoping to secure tickets for the eagerly anticipated Soweto Derby are in for a disappointment after tickets for the blockbuster clash were officially sold out.

Orlando Pirates spokesperson Thandi Merafe confirmed the sell-out on Wednesday, October 14, dealing a blow to thousands of football lovers who had hoped to witness South Africa’s most fiercely contested football rivalry live at FNB Stadium.

The two Soweto giants are scheduled to lock horns on Saturday, October 31, in a clash expected to attract massive interest from football supporters across the country.

The demand for tickets highlights the enduring popularity of the Soweto Derby, which remains one of the biggest fixtures on the South African football calendar.

For many supporters, attending the match is about more than just watching football. It is an opportunity to experience the electrifying atmosphere, passion and bragging rights that come with seeing their team defeat their fiercest rivals.

However, those who failed to purchase tickets in time will now have to find alternative ways to follow the action, as the opportunity to watch the encounter live at the stadium has been taken away by the sell-out.

The derby is expected to draw a capacity crowd as the Buccaneers and Amakhosi renew their historic rivalry, with both sets of supporters hoping their teams will emerge victorious.

The sell-out once again underlines the massive following enjoyed by the two clubs and the special place the Soweto Derby occupies in South African football.

With tickets no longer available through the official sales channels, supporters are urged to be cautious of unauthorised sellers and possible ticket scams as the highly anticipated showdown approaches.
