South Africa’s population now estimated at 60.6 million

South Africa’s population is estimated at 60.6-million, that’s the official count announced by Statistics South Africa. StatsSA says still has the largest share of the South African population, with approximately 16.1 million people living in the province.

That’s more than 26% of the country’s population. In the next five years, Gauteng and Western Cape are estimated to experience the largest inflow of migrants, with Gauteng estimated to see just under 1.5-million more people.

The Western Cape will grow by more 450,000.
