Sol Phenduka fired from Kaya FM after Minnie Dlamini lawsuit

Kaya FM parts ways with Sol Phenduka

Sol Phenduka has officially been fired from Kaya FM, where he co-hosted the popular morning breakfast show.

His dismissal comes in the wake of a defamation lawsuit brought forward by media personality Minnie Dlamini.

The legal battle stems from comments made on the Podcast and Chill platform, which Phenduka co-hosts with Mac G.

Dlamini alleges the remarks were not only defamatory but also degrading, targeting her personal life and hygiene after her separation from Dr Brian Monaisa.

In court papers filed at the Equality Court, Dlamini describes the statements as harassment, hate speech, and gender-based discrimination.

She is demanding R2.5 million in damages, R1 million for the harm done to her dignity and an additional R1.5 million to be donated to an organization fighting gender-based violence.

Kaya FM initially announced Phenduka’s suspension in mid-August, stating only that it was due to an “internal process.”

However, speculation quickly mounted when DJ Fresh hinted that the move was linked to Dlamini’s lawsuit.
