SOL PHENDUKA BREAKS SILENCE ON KAYA FM SUSPENSION

Podcaster and radio personality Sol Phenduka has broke his silence after he was suspended from Kaya FM. The Johannesburg-based radio station placed Sol Phenduka on suspension with immediate effect earlier this week. Sol Phenduka co-hosts the station’s breakfast show Siz the World with popular radio personality Sizwe Dhlomo and sportscaster Mpho Maboi and newsreader Mfundo Mabalane.

“Kaya 959 confirms that presenter Sol Phenduka has been placed on suspension with immediate effect. This step has been taken pending the outcome of an internal process currently underway,” according to a statement.

Sol Phenduka opened up about his suspension on an episode of Podcast and Chill, which he co-hosts with MacGyver ‘MacG’ Mukwevho. He said that he feels the suspension is due to the court case with media personality Minnie Dlamini.

“You know what it’s about; it’s about the court case with Minnie,” he said.

Sol Phenduka went on to say that he was surprised when the radio station released a statement because he was asked to keep it private.

Minne Dlamini reportedly sued MacG and Sol Phenduka for R2.5 millionin damages for hate speech, unfair discrimination and harassment based on sex or gender. The media personality said she was in deep pain after the pair made “derogatory” remarks about her, following her break up from celebrity Doctor Brian Monaisa.
