Former Baroka midfielder Tshepo ‘Skhwama sama Tariyana’ Matete has joined GladAfrica Championship side Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila.

Matete was signed on a short-term deal until the end of the season.

The 30-year-old is most popular for his dribbling skills at township grassroots tournaments.

Speaking to FARPost on Wednesday, Matete admitted that the lack of proper football development has hindered his progress.

“A lot has changed (about me). I can’t blame people who didn’t understand me, I didn’t have that chance for football development training so I was only playing tournaments and staff.

“So now it is different because I went to play for different teams and that helped me to adapt and improve on things that I normally didn’t have,” he said.

“Obviously I have to be Skhwama at the end of the day but more maturely because my defence now has also improved and the fitness level is very good so I just need to take this opportunity and work very hard,”

Some of the clubs that Matete has played for include the University of Pretoria, Township Rollers (Botswana) and Mbabane Highlanders (Eswatini).
