SIYA KOLISI OPENS UP ABOUT SON’S ‘DISAPPOINTING’ AFRIKAANS MARK
Springboks captain Siya Kolisi revealed that he, like many other South Africans, did not do well in Afrikaans while in school. He went on to say that his mark was so bad that he was chased out of his class.
Siya also explained that his son, Nicholas (11), who he shares with estranged wife Rachel Kolisi, was disappointed over his Afrikaans mark. The rugby star explained that he would do anything for that mark. However, he expressed that he is happy that his son is striving to achieve more. Take a look…
“I’m waiting for my son. I’m doing school pick up. And I was just thinking, I had a conversation with him the other day. He was … disappointed about his school mark, his Afrikaans mark, he told me the mark that he got… and it is Afrikaans, and he was so disappointed,” said Siya.
“I would have done so much to get the mark that he got. And he’s disappointed. I don’t know how to feel. Because I am happy that he wants to achieve more. But at the same time, Afrikaans and you’re complaining about that mark. I would have given anything, they chased me out of Afrikaans, that’s how bad Afrikaans was,” he continued.
“But I’m happy… (he is) much more clever now. It hurt me to hear,” he said.
