Simba SC players appeared to have burnt the centre circle ahead of their second leg CAF Confederation Cup quarter-final at Orlando Stadium while Deon Hotto’s inclusion has been explained.
Ahead of their warm-up the Simba players gathered in a huddle and suddenly smoke began to appear between them, with a member of the Orlando Pirates technical team quickly heading over to witness what was unfolding.
A commotion ensued shortly after on the touchline before the match officials appeared to throw water over the burning grass after Simba vaccated the area.
It’s been claimed the incident was a form of prayer before they played the quarter-final in which Simba hold a slender 1-0 advantage from the opening leg at the Benjamin Mkapa last week.
Meanwhile, Hotto was said to have been ruled out through suspension, but iDiski Times can confirm upon review, all yellow cards from the group stage were rescinded at the knockout stages.
The match kicked off at 18h00 at the Orlando Stadium.
