Simba Give Morrison Update Ahead Of Bucs Clash

Tanzanian side Simba SC have confirmed that former Orlando Pirates winger Bernard Morrison will not be able to travel with the team to South Africa for their CAF Confederations Cup quarter-final second leg.

The 29-year-old played for the Buccaneers between 2016 and 2018 but will not be available for Simba’s second leg against his former club.

After iDiski Times reported over the weekend that it was questionable whether Morrison would be allowed to make the trip, Simba CEO Barbara Gonzalez confirmed the South African Immigration Authority has refused to clear him for travel to Mzansi.

“We contacted the people of the South African Immigration Authority to ask for permission and Visa to enter with Bernard [Morrison], but they told us their rules and if a person breaks them, they will not be able to enter again,” Gonzalez said as per GOAL h/t Sokalabongo.

“They have told us due to his previous mistake while in the country; authorities are not ready to let him go there according to the rules, so it is now official that Morrison will not travel with the rest of squad members to South Africa.

“We have communicated the same to our technical bench and we want them to prepare the team knowing Morrison will not be able to travel for the return leg. However, he will be ready and available for the first leg meeting at home.”

Morisson already wasn’t able to face Kaizer Chiefs in the CAF Champions League first leg in South Africa last year due to similar reasons. However, he can feature in Pirates CAF Confederations Cup first-leg in Tanzania on Sunday, 17 April.
