Anika Dambuza’s comments regarding her role as a breadwinner in their household set tongues wagging on social media. But her husband affirmed his strong and secure masculinity.
A snippet from next week’s trailer of Mzansi Wethu’s hit reality show, The Real City Makoti, shows Anika mentioning that she’s the sole provider. The content creator forms part of many South African celebrities who’ve clinched reality tv deals.
‘NO FRAGILE MASCULINITY HERE’
The content creator posted his outfit-of-the-day video on social media. He saw an opportunity to briefly reassure his fans that his masculinity is fine, and we shouldn’t worry about him. In one of the comments, the Easter Cape native mentioned that their arrangement is nothing new within our society.

“I wonder why they’re bothered by your marriage and feelings.”
sihledambuza replied:
“You can ask that again because I’m also confused. Kungi (Anika) is showcasing a very common arrangement in SA, but they’re fighting.”

ANIKA STANDS HER GROUND
Upon noticing the buzz over her upcoming episode, the mother of one posted a video on TikTok. In this video, she explained that her home is rooted in values and respect. Additionally, she emphasised that the female breadwinner narrative rings true to her reality, and there’s nothing shameful about it.
@thecitymakoti Everything I do has a purpose.. and this is exactly the conversation I wanted us to have ♥️
Anika said that her husband was working on his next move. And he is respected as “intloko yekhaya”(head of the home). Sihle quit his job as a commercial property broker for his content creation passion.
