Sibisi Says New Pirates Players Must Adapt To Coach Ouaddou’s Demands For Excellence
A senior Orlando Pirates player, Nkosinathi Sibisi, has stressed the importance of new arrivals quickly adapting to the high standards set by the club’s coach, Abdeslam Ouaddou.
Sibisi described the Moroccan coach as a “straight talker” who refuses to settle for merely good results.
Speaking ahead of the Soweto Derby, Sibisi said the latest additions to the squad would need to “blend and understand” the coach’s philosophy. He made it clear that the technical team is not interested in average performances.
“He doesn’t demand just good he demands excellence,” explained Sibisi. “Whenever we win three-nil, four-nil, when we should have won maybe by eight or ten, he will say it straight. He’s a straight talker.”
According to Sibisi, the squad has chosen to embrace the coach’s blunt feedback rather than take offence. The group views the constant push for higher standards as a positive influence that helps drive performance.
“For us it’s just to take it in a positive manner and allow it to help us push for more,” he added.
The comments come as Pirates continue to integrate new faces into the squad amid a demanding domestic and continental calendar.
Ouaddou came out strong on the players he gave a chance in the Carling Knockout Cup win over Milford FC on Tuesday. He felt they did not grab the chance, and made it clear he would not nurse their feelings if they do not do what he expects of them.
