Sibanye-Stillwater to restart operations after wage deal signed

Published

Sibanye-Stillwater has restarted operations at its South African gold mines after signing a three-year wage agreement with trade unions.

Workers downed tools for over three months, demanding wage increases. The wage deal is effective from July.

It will see general employees receive an increase of R1,000 a month in the first year of the agreement, R900 in the second year and R750 in the third.

The mining giant says the protracted strike will have long-lasting financial implications on both the company and workers.
