While one model kickstarted her Miss South Africa journey, another reflected on five years since winning the crown.

The past winning millions of South Africans were glued to their television screens, seated in anticipation to witness the crowning of the new Miss South Africa.

After a thorough process and tons of questions from the judging panel, the evening ultimately belonged to Qhawekazi Mazaleni, who walked away with the prestigious accolade.

But while Qhawekazi’s reign is only starting, another former title holder had a deep reflection on her memorable journey.

Miss South Africa 2020 winner Shudufadzo Musida recently celebrated five years since being crowned Miss South Africa.

Taking to Instagram, she shared a heartfelt post reminiscing on the once-in-a-lifetime experience along with a note of appreciation to those who have supported her journey.

“I can’t believe it’s been 5 years since I was crowned Miss South Africa. Thank you to everyone who’s supported my journey from then until now. I’m so blessed to call you my village,” she wrote.

“And to my uncle Oscar, who gave me a lesson in self-belief the day before the finale. He said, ‘If you believe the crown is yours, then it is yours. But if you believe it’s not, then it’s not. No one can do the believing for you — no matter how badly we want it for you.”

After completing her reign, she has gone on to achieve great things in her professional capacity. She is now also a mental health advocate and the proud author of a children’s book titled, I Am Shudu. The book is about her personal journey dealing with bullying, identity, and self-discovery.
