The Western Cape has the most dangerous gangs in South Africa.
The resulting levels of violence and crime are mirrored in the many communities living under siege and numerous lives shattered.
According to a South African Police Service response to a DA Parliamentary question, there are 804 fewer police officers in the province compared to 2017.
The Western Cape Committee spokesperson on Transport and Public Works, Ricardo Mackenzie, says the worst part is that it is the poorer areas that are most affected.
