Shock as Gugulethu man dies next to cop shop

RESIDENTS from Manenberg and Gugulethu were shocked when a man dropped and died in front of a cop shop on Sunday, 30 April.
A witness said the man, aged 40, was walking, but looked like he was losing his strength before he fell and died instantly at the traffic light, not far from Manenberg Police Station.
“We know this guy. He helps taxi drivers load taxis and get a small fee for that. We were shocked to see him die like that,” said Mark Hendricks from Manenberg.
A Gugulethu taxi driver, Clement Dwadwa (44), said the man helped him load a taxi an hour before his death and he was shocked to hear about the incident.
“I’m shocked that this guy has died. We have worked with him for years. I saw him today and he helped me load my taxi close to the intersection where his body was found. It is shocking,” he said.
Police spokesman Sergeant Wesley Twigg said they’re investigating the cause of the man’s death.
“Manenberg police registered an inquest docket for investigation after the body of a 40-year-old man was discovered on the corner of Klipfontein and Duinefontein Roads on Sunday afternoon.
“The victim had no visible injuries on his body and was declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel. A post-mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death,” said Twigg. – Daily Sun
