DJ Shimza shines as DJ Mag cover star

South African DJ and producer Shimza is celebrating a proud career moment after landing on the cover of DJ Mag, one of the world’s most respected electronic music publications.

The award-winning DJ shared the exciting news on social media, posting a photo of the magazine cover featuring him alone, and reflecting on the significance of the moment.

“From Tembisa to the cover of DJ Mag, this one hits deep,” he wrote.

“Thank you @djmagofficial for the acknowledgment and for opening this space for our culture. Moments like this remind me how far the journey has brought me, and how much bigger the mission still is for all of us pushing Afro sounds to the world.”

Shimza, whose real name is Ashley Raphala, has been one of the leading figures in taking Afro-tech and house music to international stages.

His feature on DJ Mag is seen by many as a global recognition not only of his talent but also of the growing influence of African electronic music.

He ended his post with a message of unity and pride for the genre, writing, “This cover isn’t just about me, it’s a win for the movement.”
