Lekompo musician Lehlogonolo ‘Shebeshxt’ Chauke will have to wait a little longer for the next development in his latest bail bid after the matter was postponed from 26 October to 29 October 2026.

According to The Citizen, the rapper is seeking bail on new facts, with his defence arguing that fresh evidence could strengthen his case for release. The latest application centres on a forensic ballistics report compiled by specialist Dr Christo de Klerk. His defence has indicated that the report could challenge aspects of the evidence contained in the police docket.
Shebeshxt appeared in the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court earlier this month as his legal team launched another attempt to secure his release. According to reports, the rapper maintains that he was “framed” and disputes the allegations against him. These remain claims by the accused and have yet to be tested at trial.
Shebeshxt remains behind bars
The musician has been in custody since his arrest in November 2025 and faces 21 charges. These include four counts of attempted murder, robbery with aggravating circumstances, culpable homicide, assault, reckless or negligent driving, and unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, according to TimesLIVE.
His previous attempts to secure bail have been unsuccessful. His defence has continued to argue that new information should allow the court to consider his latest application separately from his earlier failed bids.
The State, meanwhile, continues to oppose his release.

Trial set for 2027
While Shebeshxt’s bail battle continues, his criminal trial has already been scheduled for 17 to 21 May 2027 in the Polokwane Regional Court.
The National Prosecuting Authority previously confirmed that the State intends to call 22 witnesses during the trial, according to TimesLIVE.
For now, Shebeshxt remains in custody as his latest bail application moves to 29 October 2026, leaving his supporters and legal team waiting for the next stage of the proceedings.
The court will ultimately determine whether the new evidence presented by the defence meets the legal requirements for bail.
