Controversial Limpopo rapper Shebeshxt has reportedly been slapped with additional charges while already in custody, after correctional officials allegedly discovered prohibited items in his possession during a routine search.
According to reports, the lekompo musician, born Lehlogonolo “Shebeshxt” Chauke, was charged on Tuesday morning after officials at the Polokwane Holding Cells allegedly found a smartphone, empty sachets containing remnants of an unknown substance, and a drug-smoking pipe in his cell.
The discovery was reportedly made while he was behind bars awaiting his next court appearance.
The latest development comes as Shebeshxt remains in custody following a decision by the Polokwane High Court to deny him bail.
In December 2025, Judge Natalie Burnet upheld Senior Magistrate Godfrey Netshiozwi’s ruling, keeping the rapper behind bars pending further proceedings.
He is expected to return to the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on 17 February 2026.
News of the alleged contraband discovery quickly spread online, triggering strong reactions from social media users.
Many expressed concern that the new charge could further damage his chances of securing release, with some suggesting the situation had significantly worsened his legal standing.
The incident was first shared publicly on Tuesday, 10 February 2026, when entertainment and current affairs blogger Limpopo Chronicle reported that Shebeshxt had been charged while still in custody.
While authorities have yet to release an official statement detailing the additional charge, the reports have added another layer of controversy to the rapper’s already troubled legal battle.
