South African businesswoman and reality television personality Shauwn ‘MaMkhize’ Mkhize is facing another development in her ongoing tax battle after the KwaZulu-Natal High Court authorised the sale of five luxury residential properties linked to her family.

The court order, issued on 26 October 2026, directs a curator to sell the properties, which are valued at approximately R35 million on the market. The proceeds will be held in trust pending further court rulings determining how the funds may be applied towards outstanding tax liabilities.

According to TimesLIVE, the case involves Shauwn, her son Andile Mpisane, his wife Tamia Mpisane and related companies. The ruling marks another step in the South African Revenue Service’s (SARS) efforts to recover outstanding taxes and enforce compliance.

Today, the KwaZulu-Natal High Court authorised the auction sale of five Sandton properties owned by Shaun Mkhize (a.k.a Mpisane) towards paying the R105m tax debt owed to SARS by her, her son and her companies.

5 Luxury homes targeted for sale

The five properties are situated in Sandown, Johannesburg, and are linked to Shauwn and her family.

Under the court order, the curator is authorised to proceed with their sale, with the money generated from the transactions to remain in an interest-bearing trust account.

The funds will not automatically be transferred to SARS. Further legal proceedings will determine whether, and how, the proceeds can be used to settle the tax liabilities at the centre of the dispute.

The sale is intended to preserve the value of the properties while the legal process continues, rather than allowing expenses associated with maintaining the homes to erode their worth.

Why Tamia Mpisane is involved in the case

Tamia, married to Andile, has also been drawn into the proceedings because their marriage is in community of property.

Under this marital property regime, spouses generally share a joint estate comprising assets and liabilities, subject to applicable legal exceptions.

Her inclusion in the case highlights how the financial consequences of legal proceedings can extend beyond the individual whose tax affairs are being scrutinised.

However, her involvement in the proceedings should not, on its own, be interpreted as a finding that she personally committed tax-related wrongdoing.

SARS continues efforts to recover outstanding taxes

The latest ruling follows a preservation order granted in November 2024 as SARS pursued recovery measures involving Shauwn and associated business interests.

The revenue service has been seeking to enforce outstanding tax liabilities through legal proceedings involving assets linked to the family and related companies.

The dispute has previously attracted attention over the seizure and auction of luxury assets, including vehicles and designer goods.

In July 2025, reports indicated that bids totalling more than R8 million had been received during an auction involving luxury vehicles and a tour bus linked to Shauwn and associated entities.

These measures form part of the broader efforts to recover money allegedly owed to the revenue service.

What happens next?

The sale of the five homes does not automatically bring the tax dispute to an end.

The proceeds will remain in trust until further court proceedings determine their eventual use. The next legal steps will establish whether the funds can be applied towards the relevant tax liabilities and how the competing interests in the case will be addressed.

For now, the court-authorised sale represents a significant development in the ongoing efforts to resolve the tax dispute involving Shauwn, her family and related companies.
