In-form Mamelodi Sundowns forward Peter Shalulile has taken his club form to the national team and sent Namibia to their fourth Africa Cup of Nations finals after upsetting Cameroon.
Shalulile opened the scoring for the Brave Warriors in the 55th minute at Dobsonville Stadium.
It was Shalulile’s third goal in as many AFCON qualifiers in Group C after he also scored the opener in the 26th minute of the reverse fixture four days ago, and had also netted in a 1-1 draw with Burundi.
On Friday, Cameroon were able to equalise via Olivier Kemen to salvage a 1-1 draw at home and stay ahead of their opponents on the log.
However, on Tuesday, Absalom Limbondi made it 2-0 for Namibia in the 79th minute to wild celebrations.
Cameroon pulled one back late in the game via Vincent Aboubakar, who scored in the first minute of injury-time, but it was a little too late for the Indomitable Lions.
The win puts Namibia ahead of Cameroon with five points after three games in Group C, and with it being another three-team group, they secured their spot at the AFCON in Ivory Coast.
It’s only their fourth qualification after 1998, 2008 and 2019.
The third team in the group, Burundi have only collected one point from two games so far, while Cameroon sit on four points.
