Seriti Coal is a coal mining company that is part of the Seriti Group. Seriti is a 91% black-owned and controlled mining company in South Africa that is co-owned by four different shareholders.
Seriti Coal operates three large-scale thermal coal mines, which are:
New Vaal
New Denmark colliery
Kriel colliery
The coal mining company supplies to many power stations like Eskom’s Lethabo, Tutuka, Kriel, Kendal, and Duhva.
Seriti aims to be the industry-leading supplier of coal and related products in the country. To make that happen, the company has several initiatives in place. The learnership is one such initiative.
Seriti Coal Learnership 2022
Seriti is inviting students to apply for the Seriti Coal Learnership programme (Ref- MMS014/22GS). It is intended for technical graduates and working professionals in relevant trade who want to upskill themselves.
Participants will get to work on the latest techniques used in the mining sector and hone their skills. It is open to multiple trades like auto electricians, boilermakers, diesel mechanics, electricians, fitters, instrumentation mechanics, and riggers.
Through the programme, the company also benefits by ensuring an adequate number of skilled workforce in the region.
Once selected, the learners will be required to perform the following duties:
Apply health, safety, and housekeeping standards
Inspect and report any unsafe behavior in the workplace to the correct authority
Conduct risk assessment for potential risks and hazards before the commencement of daily tasks
Take necessary measures to keep the equipment clean and functioning
Complete theoretical and practical learning on a daily basis
Motivate others for self-improvement and learning
Collaborate with others as and when needed
The learnership requires the candidates to work out of the Emalahleni, Mpumalanga coal facility for a certain period of time. They’re also entitled to receive remuneration for the contribution. Shortlisted candidates will get more information regarding this via email.
Who should apply?
To be selected for the learnership programme, applicants must fulfill the eligibility criteria. These are laid out by Seriti Coal to select the best candidates for the role. Since there are a limited number of bursaries on offer, they cannot award to everyone. Therefore, always cross-check before applying to avoid rejection.
The eligibility requirements for Seriti Coal Learnership 2022 are:
A South African citizen
Holds an N3 Technical Certificate with Pure Mathematics (Mathematical Literacy not eligible) and Physical Science and scored at least 40% in all the subjects OR has passed Grade 12 with Pure Mathematics and Physical Science and achieved at least 40% in both Maths and Science
Holds a valid driving license
Fulfilling all of the criteria, however, doesn’t guarantee selection. Preference is given to those who have previous experience in a maintenance environment. Applicants with a superior academic track record will also get priority. The decision taken by Seriti Coal regarding the selection will be considered final.

Please specify the relevant qualifications and pass marks
Do you have a valid driver’s license?
Review your application one last time and submit it. You should get the result of your application within a few weeks of the closing date.
