The wait is over! After long hard 8 years of waiting the Meyiwa family might finally get answers and justice for their loved one.

The Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates soccer star was mysteriously shot and killed at his girlfriend place, singer Kelly Khumalo in Vosloorus, Ekurhuleni, October 2014.

On Tuesday the five men accused of the murder of Bafana Bafana captain, Senzo Meyiwa appeared in the North Gauteng High court for the Murder trial. The accused are facing charges of murder, attempted murder, armed robbery, possession of an unlicensed firearm and possession of ammunition.

Accused 1- Muzikawukhulelwa Sibiya

Accused 2-Bongani Sandiso Ntanzi

Accused 3-Mthobisi Prince Mncube

Accused 4 -Mthokoziseni Maphisa

Accused 5- Sifisokuhle Nkani Ntuli

The trail, which was set to start on Monday, 11 April 2022 was postponed before the trial could start, a request to postponement to consult on new statements released by the state two weeks ago was made by Ntuli’s lawyer.

State prosecutor George Baloyi says accused 5, Ntuli is unprepared “I find it preposterous that they want 5 days to consult witnesses in KZN, GP & they want more particulars.”

Prosecutor Baloyi further stated that this was a soccer icon, South Africans and the Meyiwa family want to know what happened.”

According to Advocate Maelsela Teffo, who represents Muzikawukhulelwa Sibiya, Bongani Sandiso Ntanzi, Mthobisi Prince Mncube and Mthokoziseni Maphisa, said that his clients don’t know why they are here. “My clients believe that the state should put the charges to them”

Adv Teffo added that his clients request the State to put the charges on them.

Judge Maumela responded saying that, “when due time arrives” the charges will be put to his clients.
