Mzansi singer, Kelly Khumalo has finally addressed the defamatory allegations made by Advocate Malasela Teffo during the highly publicized Senzo Meyiwa trial. Teffo alleged that Kelly Khumalo was the one who shot Senzo Meyiwa by mistake.
During the trial, shocking discoveries were made. One was that there was a docket implicating Kelly and her entire family but that was ruled out as the docket apparently held no merit.
Another claim made by Teffo implied that Kelly was the one who shot Senzo by mistake. He said an eye witness will testify in court and back this claim however the witness was never called.
“I put it to you that … an eyewitness will testify that Senzo Robert Meyiwa was allegedly shot by Nonhlanhla Kelly Khumalo by mistake as it is alleged” claimed Teffo. “The same eyewitness will further testify that the firearm used to shoot Senzo Robert Meyiwa by Kelly Khumalo came with Longwe Twala, and that firearm was a revolver,” he added.
He even claimed that the same witness will testify that the crime scene was tampered with, “The same eyewitness will say all these efforts of removing the body from the scene … to the hospital is all about the furtherance of concealment of the murder of Senzo Robert Meyiwa, by dumping him at Botshelong hospital,” Teffo said.
In her reality show, Life With Kelly, the singer said Teffo was seeking attention when he made these claims.
“This is very disturbing. Extremely disturbing. There’s so many scenarios that South Africa has had. How desperate can one be to try and put me in jail for something that I did not do? My thing is that, that Advocate is desperate for attention.”
“And he knows that every time he mentions my name, he trends. Every time he gets up ‘my lord, Kelly Khumalo’. Argue. Make your submissions. We are here to find out the truth about what happened to my daughter’s father,” said an emotional Kelly.
She then added, “It went from Longwe and Zandie fighting into me … buying people. Me paying for people that I met at the mall. Now, she pulled the trigger.”
In her interview before the reality show premiered, Kelly told Relebogile Mabotja, on her 702 on Afternoons show that when the timing is perfect, the world will hear her voice.
“The noise is external and has absolutely nothing to do with me. When I’m needed and when the time is right, the world will hear my voice. They will not hear my voice when they feel they should,” she said. “Whatever feelings they have towards me. I feel like it’s a projection because this is not the only case that has been a failure when it comes to the justice system.”
“For some reason, because there’s Kelly Khumalo involved, we want to make it something peculiar, something that is different, something that has never happened before,” she added.
