Sekhukhune Star Out Until 2023 Due To ACL Tear

Sekhukhune United midfielder Brandon Parusnath will be out of action until late February or March next year after he tore his ACL.

Parusnath, who joined Sekhukhune from Golden Arrows at the beginning of last season, picked up an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL, a severe knee injury) during the off season.

This is the reason why he has not played a single match for Sekhukhune, who have been struggling this term unlike last season. The former Arrows midfielder has gone for an operation, and it was done in August and right now he’s back in Durban, undergoing rehabilitation.

“I tore my ACL during the pre-season,” Parusnath told iDiski Times.

“I’m now five weeks post operation. It was done on 25 August but all is going well and I should be back around February or March.”

Parusnath, before joining Sekhukhune, was one of the Arrows’ stars in the 2020/21 season that finished in their highest ever position in the PSL era which was fourth under coach Mandla Ncikazi. The 28-year-old featured in 30 matches, scoring two goals.

However, this is a major setback for Parusnath, who was expected to fill up the role of the departed Yusuf Maart at Sekhukhune ahead of this season. Maart, who was the captain of the side, left Sekhukhune at the end of last season to join Kaizer Chiefs.

“It’s a big setback but the comeback is greater,” revealed Parusnath.

This sort of injury, which is one of the most painful in the sport, sees footballers out of action for eight to nine months, depending on how quick their body reacts post the operation.

This injury occurred to Marc van Heerden at AmaZulu, Keagan Buchanan at Kaizer Chiefs, Mpho Matsi at Stellenbosch FC and recently it was Lebohang Maboe of Mamelodi Sundowns. It took all of them sometime to recover.
