Sekhukhune United have retained Bafana Bafana right-back Nyiko Mobbie for the upcoming DStv Premiership season.
Mobbie, 27, spent last season at Sekhukhune due to Sundowns having a plethora of options in his position but that hasn’t deterred him in his career ambitions.
The former Free State Stars man has been a regular in the senior South Africa national team since the appointment of Hugo Broos when he starred in the 2021 COSAFA Cup.
With 14 caps won, which included starting all six 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, it hasn’t been enough to break into the Sundowns fold with Thapelo Morena and Khuliso Mudau ahead in the pecking order.
Babina Noko head coach Kaitano Tembo confirmed to iDiski Times on Monday at the club’s media day that Mobbie has been secured on another season-long loan deal and is expected to play a key role this season in his defence.
Mobbie is just two games shy of 150 appearances in the South African top-flight and will be aiming for a start when their season kicks off against Maritzburg United this weekend.
